# Eight key concepts

## The building blocks that underpin Appgate SDP

Appgate SDP is based on number of key security principles and operating concepts which follow the software-defined perimeter approach defined by the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA). The result is a powerful but flexible solution that can be configured to meet your security and compliance requirements regardless of network topology.
