Configure IP Pools

Prev Next

Configure an IP pool to allocate an internal IP address to clients. Review the Before you start section before configuring IP pools.

To add or edit an IP pool, complete the following fields:

NOTE

You cannot delete or change an existing range within an IP pool (as they may be in use).

  • Name. Enter a name for the IP pool.

  • Notes. Optional. Enter any notes for the IP pool.

  • Tags. Click +Add to add tags to the IP pool.

  • IP Version. Specify which IP address protocol to use.

  • Lease time (days). Duration for which an assigned IP address remains reserved (for a specific client), after which it remains associated (to the client) but can be re-assigned if required. You can set up to a maximum of 1095 days (3 years).

  • Ranges. Ranges of IP addresses that will be assigned to clients. Add ranges using either CIDR notation (192.168.100.0/24) or with a start and end IP address (192.168.100.1-192.168.100.5). Ranges cannot be edited or removed once saved (they are in use).

  • Excluded Ranges. Ranges of IP addresses that will not be assigned to clients. Excluded ranges (expressed in the same format) can be added, edited or removed. Clients will be re-assigned elsewhere in the range when their entitlement token renews. Each IP pool can include multiple IP ranges - so  if space is becoming short, additional ranges can be added later on.

  • Default IP Pool ranges:

    • <default pool v4>:  192.168.100.1-192.168.100.254

    • <default pool v6>:  fd00::ffff:c0a8:6401-fd00::ffff:c0a8:64fe

NOTE

The default IPv4 and IPv6 ranges only allow for 254 addresses out of the box.

Remember, if SNAT is deselected on a Site then it might be required to add routes to the network in order to be able to reach the IP pool address blocks that have been defined here. Refer to IPv4 and IPv6 pools for information about their sizing, management, and use.
