A one-time password (OTP) is a way to ensure stronger security through multifactor authentication (MFA).
AppGate ZTNA includes a built-in Time-Based OTP provider. This allows your security team to configure a policy requiring you to confirm your identity with an OTP before accessing certain resources. Before you can use this feature, you must install and set up the OTP app on your phone or tablet.
Configure OTP
You may receive the OTP setup notification the first time you use AppGate ZTNA or later when you try to access an application that requires additional authentication. To set up OTP, click the notification.
If you do not want to set up the OTP app now, close the window. The prompt reappears the next time you try.
Consider the following before configuring an OTP:
The OTP depends on accurate time. Make sure your smartphone or tablet's time is current. Most modern internet-connected devices keep time automatically. If you have doubts, contact your IT department.
You can set up two devices simultaneously. If you lose your primary device, having a second device configured ensures continued access.
Treat the device that generates your OTP as securely as any other device that contains sensitive information.
To configure an OTP:
Download an authenticator app to your mobile device.
Open the app and begin setup.
Most authenticator apps support QR code scanning. Scan the QR code displayed. If you plan to use two devices—such as a phone and a tablet—to generate the same OTP, scan the QR code on both devices.
If you cannot scan the QR code, enter the key manually.
After setup completes, your device generates the first OTP for you to enter.
Enter OTP
After you initialize the OTP app, a User Interaction window prompts you to enter a one-time password:
Open the app on your phone or tablet to view the OTP.
Type the latest code into the window.
Click Submit or Connect to continue.
