# Configure Secrets

Review the [Secrets](/v1/docs/secrets-v6-7) page before configuring secrets.

To create or edit secrets, go to the **Secrets** page and click **+Add**. Then complete the following fields:

- ***Name.*** Enter the name which will be used to refer to the secret in the script. Use the format %SECRET:<name>%.

> 
> The name should not contain lower case letters or spaces. Changing the name may break existing scripts.

- ***Notes***. Optional. Enter any notes for the secret.
- ***Tags***. Click **+Add** to add tags to the secret.
- ***Secret.*** Enter the secret to be substituted into the script at run time.
