The distributed architecture underpinning AppGate ZTNA provides the flexibility to deploy appliances where required. As a result, you can control access across your distributed network while meeting business requirements for compliance, security, monitoring, and reporting. The [Tunnel architectures](/v1/docs/tunnel-architectures-v6-7) section has several examples of different architectures you might utilize when deploying AppGate ZTNA. AppGate ZTNA also offers numerous [HA mechanisms](/v1/docs/high-availability-ha-v6-7) ensuring access can be maintained at all times. ![Diagram illustrating network architecture with clients, gateways, and microsegmentation components.](https://cdn.us.document360.io/e7482ce5-acfa-4c3b-b76c-b6c32472644a/Images/Documentation/AppGate-Topology-Diagram.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-26T23%3A25%3A19Z&se=2026-10-27T00%3A25%3A19Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=FIHMRX2SNYx0fBvbQHDYNyWunaxQAUagcOU34T8o%2BJc%3D) Each appliance is a stateless machine and can be configured to deliver different functions: Controller, Gateway, LogServer, LogForwarder, Metrics Aggregator, Portal, Connector, or Connection Broker.
