AppGate ZTNA is a network security system that provides secure access to network resources through access rules called entitlements, which your organization configures.
This guide explains how to use the AppGate ZTNA client on your device. It covers the following tasks:
Installing the client
Connecting to the network
Viewing the status of the client
How to use the client
What to do when you see a notification
How it works
A Software-Defined Perimeter (SDP) consists of three primary components: the client, the Controller, and the Gateway. The client is your personal access point to the AppGate ZTNA network. The Controller, managed by your administrator, makes policy decisions for your system. It checks your context, grants entitlements to your client, and allows you to access relevant applications through the Gateway.

After you install the client, the first launch prompts you to add a profile. After you add a profile, you can sign in. AppGate ZTNA provides access to all your network resources through app shortcuts, similar to how you open an app on your smartphone. Clicking an app shortcut opens a web page or application directly.

When you reboot your device, the client restarts and reconnects to the network automatically.
You will see the client in action when you try to access protected applications. For example, the client may prompt you to verify your identity or declare a reason for accessing a specific application before you can continue. In these situations, a notification appears in your Notification Bell and a User Interaction window opens with instructions for the next step.
All data transmits using the industry-standard (D)TLS protocol, which organizations worldwide use for sensitive transactions.
Connecting to your network resources
After installation, a gray AppGate ZTNA client icon appears in the task bar (menu bar) of your device. A gray icon means you are disconnected:

Click the icon to connect.
After you connect, the AppGate ZTNA client icon changes color in the task bar, indicating you are now connected.
The following icon states indicate different conditions:
Connected: The icon displays as solid black.

Notifications
The Notification Bell in the client’s task bar alerts you when a message is waiting. Notifications relate to user interactions, messages, or client upgrades.

For more information about common notification types, see the following topics:
Disconnecting
Under normal circumstances, you do not need to quit the client, even when you restart your device. If you need to disconnect briefly, desktop clients let you suspend the connection and resume it when you are ready. To disconnect manually, see the Using the Client section.
General help
